Smoked Shotgun Shells

Shotgun shells were a recipe we found not long ago when we went through a "Smoked food" craze. Delicious, and easy to put together- we decided to swap out all the BBQ sauce on this recipe for Hot papa's and it BLEW OUR MIND!

Ingredients
  • (2) 8oz boxes manacotti shells

  • 1 1/2 pound ground beef

  • 1lbs sausage of your choice

  • 1 med union - Finely Diced

  • 2 cups sharp cheddar

  • 6 oz cream cheese

  • 1 jalapeno - Finely Diced

  • 2 teaspoons Slap Ya Mama Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp garlic powder

  • 2 tbsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp red pepper flake

  • 1/3 cup Hot Papa's

  • (2) 16oz pack bacon (More if needed)

  • Additional Hot papa's if needed

Instructions
  1. Mix Ground Beef, Sausage, Cheeses, 1/3 cup of Hot Papa's. and seasonings in bowl

  2. Gently stuff the uncooked manicotti shells from both ends. Make sure to leave as few air pockets of possible, if any at all.

  3. Wrap the stuffed Manicotti shells in the bacon (Try to cover all the manicotti with bacon- this might require 2 slices of bacon.)

  4. Let rest over night, This helps soften the shell with the natural moisture and juices from the meats so it's easier to cook all the way through in the smoker.

  5. Preheat Smoker to 225° F

  6. Take Shells out of fridge, and brush Hot Papa's over the shells before putting into the smoker.

  7. Smoke for an hour, flip shells and brush more hot papa's onto the shells. Then, continue smoking for another 60 minutes, or until Bacon is nice and crispy.

  8. Remove from smoker, let rest for a few minutes and enjoy! Don't burn your tongue!
